MCCSC is exploring different calendar options that could maximize the potential for student success. Neighboring school districts as well as schools across the state have begun to look at how to best serve their students and many have implemented a modified or non-traditional calendar which still keeps the number of instructional days constant (180). Some of those calendars may have 9 weeks of school and then three weeks off, or 9 weeks of school with two weeks off throughout the calendar year. Others incorporate more short breaks during the traditional year, start at the beginning of August, and shorten the summer break to 6-8 weeks. Traditional calendars such as we currently have in MCCSC have a 9-10 week summer break.
Currently MCCSC is evaluating data to determine what would be of most benefit to our students and our community. Your answers to the following survey about calendars will help us move forward in the process. Please respond by Monday, November 12.
