A big thank you to Cub Scouts Pack 123 under the direction of Scout Leader Chris Kilander for their work on our school landscaping. The Scouts spent hours pouring mulch, planting flowers, setting up flower pots, pulling weeds, and much more in order to make our school landscaping look beautiful for the spring and summer.
We appreciate the Scouts and all of their hard work!

IU Football players visited Clear Creek to promote the upcoming Cream and Crimson football game. The athletes did our morning announcements in the office over the intercom and visited classrooms. All students and families are invited to the annual Cream and Crimson game on Saturday, April 13th at 4:00. Admission is free at Memorial Stadium. Food, photographs, and youth football stations will be offered earlier that afternoon. GO HOOSIERS!!
Award Winning author Amy Krouse Rosenthal will visit Clear Creek on April 15th and speak with students. We are very excited about Amy's visit! Amy will also be at the Monroe County Public Library the evening of April 15th. Pre-registration is required to attend her session at the libary and admission is free. Congratulations to 6th grade student Addie Paul for her 1st place award in the 2013 City of Bloomington Black History Month Elementary Essay contest! Addie’s essay about Anna J. Cooper was chosen out of over 100 essays at the elementary level. Addie was recognized at a special award reception held at Fairview Elementary. Your Clear Creek family is very proud of you, Addie! Way to go!!
Our annual read-a-thon kicked off January 25th and continues through February 15th.
All students are encouraged to earn pledges and track the amount of minutes they read each night. Each Thursday tallied minutes for the week will be turned in to English/Language Arts teachers. A winner from each class will be announced each Friday. Prizes will be awarded for top ELA readers each week, grade level winner on Feb. 15th, and the top reading class at the end of the read-a-thon.

The B-Town Girl-bots First LEGO league, which is a Grade 4-5 Girl Scout troop from Clear Creek, received 2nd place in the research category for their project Senior Solutions! Although the girls did not advance to state we are extremely proud of their dedication and hard work. Thanks so much for supporting us by contributing to our food drive for Area 10 Agency on Aging food pantry.
Congratulations to our 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Amy Conover, for being selected as a Feature Teacher on WHCC FM radio! Mrs. Conover was nominated by her students and was chosen from many nominees. Mrs. Conover's class received a pizza party from the radio station to celebrate their teacher's award.
Student-led conferences are this week and next week from 6:00-7:00pm.
Grades 1-3 will have conferences on one of the following dates: December 3rd, 5th, or 11th.
Grades 4-6 will have conferences on one of the following dates: December 4th, 6th, or 13th.
This Friday is our 2nd annual school wide photo. The entire school, including all students and staff, will gather together in the gym to have our picture taken.
Students who ordered a new Clear Creek shirt in orange, blue, or tie-dye, will receive their shirt Friday morning so they may wear it for the picture. Students who did not purchase a shirt are encouraged to wear orange for the school wide photo. If your child does not have an orange shirt, please wear a blue shirt or any Clear Creek t-shirt.
This holiday season the Foundation of Monroe County Community Schools is hosting an online auction fundraiser. We’ll be auctioning off a variety of items – from stocking stuffers to that WOW gift for the holidays!
Our 1st grade comets recently celebrated the 50th day of school with a 50s themed day of special acitivites. Students and teachers dressed up in nostalgic 50s clothing including poodle skirts and slicked back hair. Math, reading, and writing activities had a common theme of the 1950s decade and students even participated in a sock hop in the gym. A fun time was had by all!
The Scholastic Book Fair is coming back to Clear Creek. The Book Fair will be set up in the library from November 12 through November 16.
